Reliance Jio might increase the JioPhone price by Rs 300

NEW DELHI: Mukesh Ambani-led Jio is set to raise the price of JioPhone by Rs 300 and will now sell the smart feature phone for Rs 999, as per a report by 91Mobiles that cited offline retailers as the sources.

It is worth mentioning that the JioPhone had been launched originally for Rs 699 in Diwali 2019.

Along with the price hike, Jio is also said to bundle a mandatory Rs 125 prepaid recharge with the purchase of JioPhone, thereby taking the effective price to Rs 1,124.

The 4G telco is expected to make an official announcement soon, added the report.

ETTelecom recently reported that Reliance Jio has launched three new annual prepaid plans for its JioPhone feature phone users that offer upto 504GB data with unlimited on-net calling and are priced at Rs 1001, Rs 1301, and Rs 1501.

The JioPhone Rs 1001 plan offers 49GB of 4G data with a daily data limit of 150MB along with unlimited Jio-to-Jio calling with a FUP limit of 12000 minutes for Jio to non-Jio numbers and 100 free SMSes. It is valid for 365 days.

The Rs 1301 plan offers 164GB of 4G data with a daily limit of 500MB and unlimited Jio-to-Jio calling with a FUP limit of 12000 minutes for Jio to non-Jio numbers and 100 free SMSes. This plan is valid for 365 days.

Lastly, the Rs 1501 plan offers 1.5GB data per day of 504GB for 336 days. This plan offers unlimited Jio-to-Jio calling with a FUP limit of 12000 minutes for Jio to non-Jio numbers and 100 free SMSes. It carries a validity of 336 days.
